I don't know about this one. I liked it, it was a fast read but at the same time I expected more beccause of all the hype and because of reading Dance of Thieves duology beforehand. I am excited about the sequel, though.

I have mixed feelings about this because it ended up being a DNF for me. I read 185 pages and I can tell it's a beautiful book but it's so so slow that I really can't get through it. I replaced the library loan a couple of times to give myself more time and I read multiple books and tried to wait for a good time to read a slow book but it never came.

Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I fucking loved this. I wish all romance books were more like this.
I thought this would be just another mafia-esque dark romance with spicy scenes and questionable situations involving morally grey love interests but turns out it was much more... real, I think would be the right word.

A lot of romance books include situations that should definitely be an episode of Criminal Minds, but not this one. And it's actually what I love about it. There's no Stockholm syndrome but instead there's actual interaction and it made the BDSM just that much better. If anything I kinda wish there had been more of that.

I hadn't heard of this author or read any of her work previously but I'll definitely look into more of her books in the future.
And for anyone wondering if this works as a standalone: yes, it does. I now have another book boyfriend.

The book does have it's weird moments, like when two of the female characters talk in emojis. Like, a face-to-face conversation but instead of real sentences they just list emojis. Which was weird and kind of funny but the book doesn't try to be overly serious so it fits the mood.

Why is there another guy? And why are three others just gone most of the book? And why does the new guy not have any personality? I was pretty bored most of the book and ugh, idk, I want to like this series but this second book just isn't very good.

I have never felt this horrible while reading a book.

I could've finished a book of this length in a couple of days but reading about extremist groups in the deep, dark parts of the Internet isn't exactly a light read. I had days when I just couldn't bring myself to read this and opted for something else instead.

Rating this book is difficult because it is well researched and intriguing but I just maybe shouldn't have read this at all.

If you are interested in politics and find extremist groups fascinating then this book might be for you but you should consider if you're really in the right headspace for this. The book gets darker the more you read, first you think this is the most chronically online book you've ever picked up and think you need to get outside and touch some grass and then you end up realising that deleting Twitter could be really good for your soul.

You know what, I'm not gonna finish this. It's way more YA than I'd like and I really don't care how it ends.

I said the first book was dumb and this was equally dumb but I think I'm dumb too because I liked it. Even though the author keeps dropping bombs and then follows it up with a sex scene so nothing is ever resolved.

This felt too much like Twilight fanfiction for me to properly like it but I think I'm gonna keep reading the series.
