There was no smut at all like the title suggested but I still enjoyed it a lot. It was a solid fantasy.
I really loved this! It was really soft and wholesome.
I saw a lot of people saying they thought Selah was whiny and like she really wasn't?? She was a bit naive and sheltered and this was her first time exploring the world. She grows a lot through out the book and is a stronger, more reliable narrator by the end. She learns to follow her instincts and to fight back.
I loved both of the love interests.
The world building was neat. It was basically a world where colonialism took place but didn't stick and England never became a world super power. There were a ton of interesting bits. It pulled a lot from different fairytalws and stories, based on what territory they were in.
I'm excited for the sequel!

The resolution was so easy. A bunch of people died and they were like "oh you just weren't yourself its fine" ????
Also I liked Pasha's sister but she was the catalyst to destroying his relationship with Nikolai and Vika? And then he continued to trust her and let her manipulate him??? She literally issued an order to fire and started a battle??? I understand that she is a strong character but sometimes you have to tell someone to back off and I feel like that should have been a part of Pasha's character growth.
Idk. I'm salty

When I was actually reading, I flew through it. Its a very quick read.
Unfortunately I did not connect with the characters at all. I liked them but I wasn't attached. The romance was all instalove and no conflict or build. There was a love triangle that was i wasn't really rooting for either side of. I actually wanted Nikolai and Pasha together instead.
The premise sounded great but it lacked a lot of tension and a level of savagery I wanted. It was a light and fluffy fantasy read that promised darkness and just did not deliver. How disappointing.
I still enjoyed it but it wasn't everything I wanted it to be. I kind of still want to read the sequel to see where it goes.

I'm still kinda mad about this being marketed as a dark story but I enjoyed it more this time. It was still fine. There was no real urgency. It was cringy at times but I was more invested in what was happening. I didn't form some crack ship this time. It was overall good.

This one took a lot longer to get through than the first one because they kept doubling back during their travels??
But also it was solid and I enjoyed it okay

Its about Eugenics in an unnuanced way! Just normal white people eugenics. Where we erase people with disabilies and people of color just don't exist!
