This took me so long to finish... But one of the better short story collections I think. The earlier ones were stronger and I didn't like the 2 longer ones as much but other than that it was scary, classic Junji Ito🫣

Omfg I loved it... the hype was real💔loved the chilly setting, haunting prose, all the timelines were satisfying and so so sad❤️‍🩹loved this story about found family, grief, love, hope!!

I don't love a lot of Junji Itos shorter stories but I really liked this one, especially the beginning. Very interesting characters from him, love their backstories and has a lot of great art🙏🖤

2⭐tbh... Absolutely lifelessly written and strangely apologetic to the main character... And the twist at the end?? Wtf? Prepare to suspend your disbelief🙃

The vibes weren't what I wanted them to be. There are constant POV switches between the characters but each perspective really adds nothing to the understanding or development of the characters they interact with. I also found a lot of the story unrealistic - who would allow their 16 year old kid to run away with a random neighbor and never even go looking for her?? Why would the hospital just allow a patient to leave like that and never follow up?? 

The potential for this was so good, but it didn't leave me with anything when I finished... It has such a heavy plot, and I just felt very neutral 

Modern art 

This pairs well with "My Alcoholic Escape from Reality", but doesn't feel as "new" as the solo exchange diaries did. Hoping she publishes more about other aspects of her life in the future
