that was a fun ride ngl i think i've read one other tricia levenseller book, and i'm pretty sure i felt rly similarly to it as i did to this one. there was a bit of a lull in the middle that didn't tempt me to pick it up or anything, but the end portion was real wild.

my comparison of temra to taryn still stands, but she was much less shady ofc they just give similar vibes - the other characters were good too, ziva was a great main character and the social anxiety rep was [chef's kiss].

kellyn tho oop

this was IT. this was perfect

pls do take the triggers in mind as they are v prevalent throughout the story and are on-page at times!

so damn good,,, i love gilene and azarion with my whole chest i want nothing but happiness for them :((

trigger warnings for
rape (on-page, mentioned), sexual assault (on-page, mentioned in memory), slavery, murder, violence, misogyny, harassment (sexual, physical)

pretty good ngl

folks that was some of the best time spent on book like ever

THIS IS GOOD. LIKE AMAZING... i cant even think straight after that last 100 pages, i don't think anything i say will be coherent

if you want some shaky morals, women leading in a society where "women are only crowned in death", and an achingly angsty sapphic romance, THIS is the book for you!

im a malini and priya apologist first, human second - they may do wrong, but this sign can't hurt me as i can't read

it was, ultimately, alright. the last third of the book was just not it tho, what even happened of substance? rly liked the beginning and some of the middle, but the end was boring

feel like this book would've benefited greatly if it was mainly an adventure book, if eviké and gaspare spent most of the book traveling to the capital, rather than having that just be the first third and the rest being an absolute slog to get through

*3.5 stars, for the queens, the brown sisters
