I was worried I'd be disappointed given the fact that I know the movie pretty much word for word, but the story is different enough, the humor fresh enough, and Jane's thoughts and struggles relatable enough that it resonates in a whole other way. Delightful AF.
I give up. This is the worst. I already suffered through years of a film PhD. I cannot read a fiction book that mimics the pretentious nonsense readings I did in school.
Probably more of a 3.5, but I just couldn't bump it up to a 4. Ends with my pet peeve: Villain monologuing. Twists were incredibly predictable if you're paying even a little bit of attention. Characters were unrealistic and didn't talk or react like real people. BUT it was at times thrilling and a very fast read.
