Great rep in several ways, but the breathless single POV didn't create emotional depth between Marvin and Olan for me, and so I just didn't click with the relationship.

I did try, but just don't click with any of the characters.

Sadly, just too unrealistic. There didn't seem to be much depth to any of the characters, especially the kids. A fluffy read doesn't have to mean one that's has minimal emotional stakes and where problems are always easily solved. Frustrating!

Just too tense for what I want to be reading at the moment!  Which actually might be the greatest recommendation a thriller can get.  ;) 

A gem of a setup for a cosy fantasy, let down for me by sketchy, inconsistent world-building and more telling than showing.  Needed the love of a fierce editor.
