writing style was not for me, unfortunately. wanting to like this for the representation but i will let the kiddos have this one
hmm. i could tell the writing style wasn't for me. after reading some reviews it seems this isn't the high-action, crime filled, page turner the description says it is. a bit too slow for me
made me sleepy tired. pretty prose but not very much going on, none of the events so far caught my attention enough to continue
i don't even have the words to explain why i hated this so badly and why it's impossible for me to finish this book. i don't mind when characters are unlikable but everyone, everyone, in this book is insufferable. there's barely a plot, so i'm inclined to believe that this is a character study of sorts? for a book that is character driven, the development of said characters, and the interactions between them, shouldn't be to trite and tedious to read through.
i just reallu dislike lucy foley's writing style because i wasn't into the paris apartment, either
could this get anymore boring.....???!!! this entire book suffers from "they didn't show us, they told us." which is a terrible way of storytelling, in my opinion.
i couldn't get into this at all. every paragraph was a long, monotonous, repetitive, back and forth of "he did this. he said this. oh i hated him. i was thirsty. i was so ashamed. oh slaves." god shut the fuck up.
