Really liked this book. It was gross and weird and dark and very fun to read. Like if Mean Girls was really dark and twisted. I do feel like the ending was lacking something—if not more explanations, perhaps it just needed MORE. Just felt kinda in line with the rest of the book and not necessarily the huge climax I was hoping for. If you like weird horror books, you’ll enjoy this one.

This is just like 1984 but with animals and I liked it a lot more. There's this kind of sense of doom while you're reading bc you can see the corruption and the animals can't and it's very good.

As with many classics like this, the way the main character talks and thinks about his love interest is disgusting. But if you can look past that kind of thing, this book was pretty interesting. Dragged a little at certain spots (Goldstein's book) but fascinating dystopian world with commentary on propaganda, division, media, and war.

This series is kinda fun to read but the plot is so meandering and 99% of the story is just characters philosophizing and reminicing and being dramatic so read at your own risk? I thought this book was a just fine conclusion to the series: the climax was nice and dramatic and the ends were mostly tied up? The only thing I really didn't like is the romance. Every single character had weird attraction to other characters or ended up in relationships that didn't make any sense and didn't have any chemistry. But whatever. Good book.

Short, mysterious, super duper interesting, scarily relatable to modern times, with an incredible plot twist ending. Loved it.

One of my favorite classics so far! The Aeneid is a fantastic and exciting adventure mimicking the Odyssey and Iliad, and Allen Mandelbaum's translation was very easy-to-read. I love when classics actually feel like I'm just reading a silly lil fantasy book!
