I was enthralled with this book. From page one, I was hooked by the inside workings of Thomas Cromwell's character as envisioned by the author. He has been vilified in previous depictions, but recent research has contributed to this more humanizing depiction. Mantel's writing is unique; a beautiful style that took me to the palaces and manors of Tudor England, as well as helped me know these famous people of history.

Wolf Hall is actually the ancestral home of Jane Seymour, and the obvious foreshadowing of what is to become of Henry and Anne's campaign to have his marriage to Katherine annulled. This book takes you through to the few years following the marriage of Henry and Anne, and the growing power conferred upon Cromwell during that time. This is a book to savor for the incredible literary writing style and the different take on Cromwell as a person, as well as his position of power.

This book has everything: books, magic, murder, love and mystery. One of my favorite books and the best part is that there are two terrific sequels!
