i started reading this bc i was bored and even after the romance started i was still bored so i think i just need to read something else and move on lol
i DNFed this a while back and just forgot to actually put it here... i'm just not interested enough in this to keep going?? maybe one day i will come back but alas it might just not be for me
something about the writing just wasn’t for me. like i enjoyed all of the scenes with the mc and love interest and i like their dynamic, but everything else just…… missed the mark? and was annoying to get through? so i’m choosing self love and saving my time and moving on
so maybe i’ll come back to this one someday (especially since i shelled out seven bucks for it on kindle LOL) but right now… this wasn’t giving what i was looking for. i was in the mood for a mlm fantasy romance, and this was way more political intrigue focused, which i can sometimes be in the mood for, but this wasn’t what i was expecting from the synopsis, etc. i enjoy the dynamic between the mains, and it overall intrigues me enough to maybe finish it another time, but right now i need to be honest with myself and switch gears.
LMAO so i couldn’t get into this book….. after many tries over the past few months. i can’t remember anything abt the first book besides a couple plot points and i don’t really feel anything for the characters or their stakes?? plus it’s a bit overwritten, like the pacing is immensely slow for a YA high fantasy, but even if viewing this as “adult” fantasy it’s just… boring to me. i wanted to finish it and be as hyped abt it as the rest of the internet but i think i need to be honest with myself and actually DNF a book for once and say this one isn’t for me. i rated the first one 4.5 stars in september, but honestly i’m rethinking that, it’s probably closer to a 3-3.5; likely rated it so high bc i like a good cliffhanger but after over a hundred pages… this second book didn’t pick up and felt repetitive.
