This is a difficult read emotionally as it has many graphic depictions of violence. BUT I think it was especially crucial for me as a white woman. If you need to smash the little crystal bubble in your subconscious about how you’re “not that racist” and that you’re somehow less problematic/more  nurturing/etc because of your gender then this is the hammer you need.

Really good formatting for this type of book I liked the way topics were broken down and the reflection questions were so good I purchased the companion journal to be able to write about my answers more clearly. Super helpful and informative book and I’m going to be processing the stuff it brings up for the rest of my life. Happy to chat about it with any friends who have read it as well! <3
