this read more like the skeleton of a concept than a fleshed out story with defined characters and motivated actions, the gruesome aspects of the book are great but at no point during the story did it feel like it knew where it was going. the overtly descriptive text — which i wouldn't generally mind if it didn't seem to have been written by throwing darts at a thesaurus — distracted me more than it helped me get immersed in the story. i wasn't a fan of nothing but blackened teeth either so maybe i'm just not the right audience for this author.

loved the found footage format and the premise, the story itself — though initially exciting, fell a little flat for me as it approached its end, which i'm still conflicted about. that being said, i still liked it, and most of my enjoyment came from listening to the audiobook version. it was fun and so immersive, loved the attention to detail with the sound effects
