Very good post-war story and set up for the next phase of the Fables. It's full of sadness, unhappy truths, a dark new Villian and of course old friends and favourites.
Once again Willingham delivers a fantastic story embroiling all the Fables and able to include the usual Fable players.
Mark Buckingham's art work remains beautiful and perfectly descriptive of the narrative.
A firm favourite in the series.

Very good continuation from The Killing Joke which I recommend is read before if you've not read it already (or read it again because that's great too).
Batgirl returns but not without some psychological damage, questioning her recovery and battling for her independence and the right to wear the Bat Symbol.
Night Wing pops up, as does Bat Man an Bruce Wayne which links it together well.
Very promising start to a good series and Gail Simone has created a sympathetic, believable Bat Girl.

Visually stunning, good story line. A degree of characters to like and hate with a strong plot and a nice twist. I'm very much enjoying the I, Vampire series and starting to feel very sorry for Andrew Bennett as he can't seem to catch any breaks!
Tig is annoying as hell and I find her completely unsympathetic. Mary might be evil with designs on power, destruction and the annihilation of mankind but at least she's got style and panache - you understand her motivation. Toughton is a tough nut to crack a and a very loyal friend.
For something within the New DC 52 this is very much worth a try. These vampires aren't namby-pamby sparkly Emo's or camp 80's throwbacks, in fact they take cheap pops at the stereotypes, they are gritty, violent and very, very hungry.

I couldn't wait to read Styxx's story when it was announced. With the rumours and readers you knew it was going to be good and it does not disappoint!!
I am absolutely blown away!!
It's heavily set in ancient times and Styxx's childhood in Didymos. The impression you have of some characters will remain the same whilst others will take a drastic turn.
This book enhances book 15 in the Dark-Hunter series, Acheron, and it isn't a betrayal to Ash to read Styxx's story. In fact it's good to read just after Acheron so the events from Ash's perspective are still fresh and will offer you a good chance to compare and contrast.
It's wonderfully written and carefully done as some of the themes are uncomfortable and adult in nature.
I give this book 5 stars but would give it more if I could. I couldn't put it down and would gladly re-read it now.
