The writing just wasn’t good 

Not horrendously written (although I have read better). Not an awful plot (although I’ve read similar). I just couldn’t bring myself to care about carrying on reading, so I clearly wasn’t too invested. Life is too short and I may have aged out of YA. 

This book wasn’t awfully written, but it also was not good and life is too short to complete books you know you aren’t going to enjoy. 

He gave me the ick instantly 

I just couldn’t connect with any of the characters. Everyone kept making stupid decisions and I couldn’t do it anymore.

I tried to start this book, after liking book 1 and not liking book 2, just so I could get the ball rolling and see if it got any better. I didn’t get far, but it absolutely did not get better before I just admitted to myself I was not going to like it. Annoyingly, I liked the prologue but the second it got to Emilia’s POV I couldn’t take it. 

I found the writing very disjointed and couldn’t maintain interest.
