this roller coaster left me feeling like i got ejected from the ride and then body slammed and drowned :’(

millennials would love this! i, (un)fortunately?, did not.

my biggest issue with this isn’t the characters—they’re fine. cute, funny, meh. not life changing, they’re just fine.

this had so much potential but the execution was not it. the pacing was odd, jumping from 10
years ago to the present, and some tabloids, blogs, and reviews were thrown in the mix. it was just highly unrealistic to the point where i just couldn’t suspend my belief. what do you mean they fell in love in a weekend (3 days) ten years ago and still love each other today and decide to say fuck it and get together again after another weekend??

Eventually, I’ll have to fully contend with this simple fact: the love I was promised is conditional.

I’m realizing it’s not so much the faith I’m upset about, it’s the hate and fear disguised as concern and charity. Faith is just a vessel, and while it can certainly be used to justify truly horrible things, maybe I’m letting the aggressors off the hook by blaming faith itself.

i should probably say i didn’t grow up watching the tinker bell universe so i probably missed some things long-time fans most likely loved/hated in this book. i knew nothing of the lore and backstory so i went into this completely blind.

that being said, i still found this book quite whimsical and endearing—as are all allison saft books are. i really wish there could’ve been a different ending, though. it felt so unfair to me </3

shadow is the mvp of this book!!!!

after the disappointments that were king of sloth and the striker (for me), this book is yet another example of how ana has so much potential as a dark romance writer. all her morally grey characters are interesting and the plot is always plotting!! i think she needs a break from her cookie cutter contemporary romances and should really delve more into darker themes. i really hope that’s where this series ends because the build up in this book was so intense and fun!!!
