to the (non-black, particularly white) people that say this is just a useless letter written by an angry black man (as i have seen in many reviews), FUCK YOU. i hope your pillows are always warm and live the rest of your days as you deserve.
You are growing into consciousness, and my wish for you is that you feel no need to constrict yourself to make other people comfortable.
the author wrote this letter to his black son. it was moving, dark and beautifully written. it is incredibly heartbreaking it had to be written in the first place. everyone should read this at least once.
dickens is great at writing, even i acknowledge that. but that being said, i didn’t really connect with these stories. they’re classics, sure, but were sort of lackluster to me…? i was looking for something more because of how hyped they were.

i absolutely fell in love with trent and miles’s relationship, but bubba really brought the entire story together.
at times the story felt a bit repetitive and the inner monologue was way too much and convoluted. the smut was cringier than the first book lowkey but still hot. the romance was super cute and i was constantly giggling while reading it.
to be honest, i wasn't sure how i felt about trent’s personality because he kinda seemed like an asshole in the beginning but once we got to know him more and more, it became quite obvious he—and miles—were really just looking for someone to love, and someone to love them back. they did that for each other. the representation of miles’ anxiety and selective mutism was written and handled with care.
in the end, the entire story was a beautiful, deep romance full of connection and tender love.

ok so idk i was hooked in the beginning, the banter was so much fun and the characters were very endearing but then for like a good chunk of the middle of the story i was like ??? it got so BORING. the ending was also so anticlimactic... also i wanted to scream any time jamie denied jackson’s money, like babe... he’s a MULTIBILLIONAIRE. if he spends $500 on your shoes, that is not going to make a dent in his bank account. you’re supposed to make his pockets hurt!!

this book absolutely destroyed me… in the best way possible. i need to lay down and stare at the ceiling for a while.
i can definitely see myself going back and rereading this masterpiece and discovering something new.

this was so much better than the first book. i didn’t expect wes and jamie it to turn out that way. loved seeing them having grown so much as individuals and as a couple.
