I’ve had this series on my shelf for a while now — after watching the anime and falling in love! — and yuppp, the manga is just as good as the show ❤️
LOVE??? As a biology teacher, this scratched an itch like no other. While it may go over the head of some of my...less interested students...others will absolutely love this recommendation. It misses a lot -- but it's expected. The audiobook was great, so now I'll have to buy a physical copy for myself too!
The Book of Eels: Our Enduring Fascination with the Most Mysterious Creature in the Natural World
As a fan of her podcast, I had to read her book - and I'm glad that I did. I had gone into this novel thinking that it would be a solid 5 stars but it left a little to be desired.
the story telling involved in the past portion of the author's life is beautifully written and engaging. the second half is less so, as we deal with the present and future and i found myself lost amongst a new side to the story.
Truly a wonderful and thoughtful collection of essays! There was no redundancy and I found that all of the points supported the overall critique. I had originally listened to the audiobook from my library but ended up buying a physical copy for my bookshelf!

Absolutely fascinating side to a story that I thought I had no interest in. I originally listened to this for a challenge (it was my very first true crime - and I chose it because I'm usually uncomfortable with true crime as a "genre") and ended up really enjoying it!
The writing style is crisp and clean and to the point and the plot itself reminds me of stories that I loved as a teenage - rich kids getting into shit i.e. gossip girl, the clique, etc.
