slow-paced

Slow omg the pacing is so slow. Besides flip-flopping between her life pre-PCT and the actual hike (mostly to convey the hardships in a different light), all the author ever did was talk about the guys she met on the trail and lose toenails. Which, like, fine. But this is the PCT we're talking about and she was (at least I think...) trying to grow as a person because holy shit, she was a shitty person pre-PCT.

This is not a story about hiking the PCT. It is not focused on travel. This is a story about a woman's emotional journey of dealing with her mother's death and not accepting that her actions have consequences and not much else.

The imagery is beautiful, though limited, and the adventure aspect is minimal at best. The writing itself is a lot like when your friend goes on vacation and then creates a slideshow to present to you and it's just a bunch of pictures of them drunk on the beach. Good for you bestie, looks like a blast, but can we wrap it up?
adventurous hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

Less charming than the first two books in the series. While I appreciated the story as a whole, many elements were either unnecessary or underdeveloped - even in a children's novel.

I watched the movie as a child but never read the books and I am so glad that I am listening to them now! So engaging and just as loveable as the movie - however, some of the action/drama is missing. At first it was jarring but then I remembered who the audience actually is and reset my standards!

I want to like the main character more? I have a feeling that she'll grow and I am so ready for her potential!
