Tho I gave this 4stars when I was assigned to read it in school, I think that was because is was better compared to all the other classics that I was assigned.
Now, rereading it, I can't help but be disappointed by how long and dry it is. There's a fantastic story in here, but it gets buried by so many boring passages. I think my nostalgic love for it is more fueled by the movies than the actual book.

When I first saw the title of this book, I laughed at it. Why didn't they come up with a better title? Surely this is just a weird marketing gimmick, and there's more to this book than just putting Pride and Prejudice in Space.
Dear reader, there is nothing more to this book than putting Pride and Prejudice in space.
I reread Pride and Prejudice immediately before reading this book, thinking that it would make it more fun to be able to catch the little references and parallels that this book would have. This novel doesn't have parallels, it has whole conversations and scenes lifted from the original barely changed. Sure, some of the slang has been made "spacey," but nothing of substance has been altered. This is Pride and Prejudice wearing a filter, and not a good one.
Some of the letters and conversations have been updated to make them space-emails (or journals) with new dialogue. Those were my favorite parts of the book, because they were in the author's own voice and provided new takes on the characters and situations. Unfortunately, the fact that they were in the author's voice instead of the stilted Pride and Prejudice voice of the rest of the novel only made it more apparent that the rest of the book was so soulless and lacking in any actual reimagining.
Thanks to Netgalley and Union Square & Co for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Love this one! Pride and Prejudice retelling done so well. It doesn't follow the Original Pride and Prejudice plot exactly, but has just enough beats to make it so fun.
It's fine. A little boring. Really leans into the Fantasy Worldbuilding without having a lot of those worldbuilding elements actually matter
This novel used my own curiosity as fuel and I'm completely obsessed with it. It's a masterpiece. It's weird in the best way and all the little confusions add up to a stunningly good ending.
Update: I have now read this book twice in the last 48 hours.

This collection is full of enchanting fantasy. It will satisfy long-time Novik fans with stories set in the same worlds as her novels, and new fans as each of those stories are accessible and there are plenty of stories unconnected to her novels.

Some great worldbuilding and buildup. The conclusion felt somewhat rushed, this book could have done wonders with fifty more pages.
Am I allowed to critique a romcom by saying that it relies far too much on "whoops I touched your shirtless chest" and "lying even bigger for fake dating" moments?
Yeah, I realize I'm the problem here.
