One of my favorite books. I keep coming back to this one year after year, connecting strongly to both Claire and Henry and their messy romance.
That being said, the pacing is achingly slow and it really could use some more actual things happening. Also, many characters are racial caricatures.

Harry dealing with learning how to say, "I love you," dealing with ghosts and vampire politics all at once? Sign me up.
Somehow all of the problems I had with this book when I read it the first time have melted away, and it seems nearly perfect now.

My favorite part is how this book sets up red herring plotlines. If the book has not hinted at any plan B, then we know plan A is going to work. This book sets up lots of plan B's, but only uses them sometimes. It keeps you on the edge and guessing where the book will really go.
