The introspective character moments are my favorite. This is the slow building of an anti-hero into a kind of actual hero.

Worrying about how to bureaucratically manage Hell and if your girlfriend will like your new monster arm is exactly the kind of drama I'm here for.

The characters went exactly where I expected them to go, and yet somehow it was still surprising where they ended up. Hats off to the audiobook reader, he was absolutely fantastic.

Contemplative, exciting. I had the mystery figured out hundreds of pages before the characters, but that didn't make the Scooby Doo action any less entertaining.

The drama keeps coming and never stops coming. The characters are 3D and have good motivations and mysteries. Solid.

Surrealist. Hard to follow. The story and concepts here are too big for the size of book that they are in.

Though the writing was entertaining, the sexism was infuriating. Nearly all of the plots for the females in this book slowly devolved into chasing after their love interest. And if I have to hear one more character express how women are more emotional and illogical than men I think I might scream. The first book was slightly sexist, but this sequel doubled that.

The characters are interesting and relatable, while the ideas are exquisite. A great place to start a fascinating new series
