Absolutely loved this book! I'm going to ignore the sabotage it suffered before being released because having read it there's nothing written in the book to support those accusations. This book is long, yes, but the subplots are really interesting and I thoroughtly enjoyed them given how most of them supported the characters' arcs. The twists were always great and the ending is so satisfactory both for the main plot of this book and for the fans of these two detectives. Also loved the amount of new information we got from Strike's past and present. I can't wait for the next book!

I just read this after watching the series a few months ago and I'm glad I did to have the extra details from the characters' minds. This book just flows really easily and I am glad it got adapted in such a precise way and that it even improves many things from the source material.

4.5 — I am surprised at how much I liked this book. It was definitely a grower for me and I liked how the story transcends the literary world to show human struggles. It's difficult to describe this book, and I went into it having almost zero knowledge about it, which I think is the best way to approach it.

LOVED IT! The structure Alex uses to tell the story is effective and surprised me as it progressed, not to mention that the final plot-twist completely shocked me. This is clever and attractive storytelling. It has some inconsistencies (as far as I've read in some critics), but I think they play well with the story.

4.5 in its genre.
Absolutely loved this book. I had low expectations but was greatly surprised by the depth and development of the main characters. It also manages to tell really funny situations, which is appreciated.

4.5 / I loved this book, having watched the BBC adaptation of it I was really intrigued as to how the original story was like and, besides appreciating the story, it gave me great insights into the adaptation decisions.

But as for the book itself, even though most of it doesn't have Sherlock and Watson together, the dynamic is present almost all the time and makes up for an interesting and exciting adventure.
