I am in love with this novel, it was a wonderful "world" to escape to.

I managed to get a copy of this gem of a novel for the indie tbr takeover month and I am sooo happy I did. This one caught my eye on tiktok a few times and it did not disappoint. It was super cute, it made me laugh, made me tear up, made me smile and just overall was a great read. The relationship dynamics throughout the novel were well done and and it was just a great adorkable story!

I read Stoney Creek Woman for a Native Studies class in one of my last terms of university and I found it to be an touching story about the life of Mary John. This book allowed the readers to see an insight into her life both in this distant history and the recent history, shortly before her death in 2004! Throughout the book you learn of the life experiences that Mary John had due to being a Carrier Native in central BC, it is a first hand look at how Residential Schools effected an entire community, about how they lost and regained their culture and spirituality though a lot of tragedy, heartbreak, determination, and spirit. Not only do you learn about the life of Mary John, and about how much of an inspiration she was for her people and for society in general, but you also learn about the lives of those around her, her community, her family, and her culture. Stoney Creek Woman is written a way that is accessible to readers, you feel as though you are sitting there with Mary John and she is telling you the stories first hand, whereas with many other biographies you feel as though you are being lectured at.

This was one of my favourite University Textbooks and it is a must read for anyone wanting to learn more about the Carrier nation and their history. It is also an empowering novel about the strength and determination of females, where Mary John is not seen as a delicate flower, but instead as a central part of her community and her culture.

I received a copy of this book as an Instagram giveaway prize from the lovely @hiltonjenkin, my review is my personal opinion.

Three Little Words is a gem of a novel, it is a horror/suspense novel that drew me in instantly. I found the characters to be well developed without it feeling like they were filling the novel with "fluff", they all grew throughout the novel in their mission to help make the world a safer place for others, even if it meant sacrificing themselves. Three Little Words deals with love, friendship, personal growth, heart break, loss, sacrifice, and so much more.

When I saw that J.M. Robson had a second book coming out I had to get it after the awesomeness that was Three Little Words. Well, I am happy to report I Am The Walker did not disappoint, that ending though... totally didn't see it coming and it was just so powerful and drove the story home. I had to stop and backtrack to see if I read what I thought I just read.

I Am The Walker is Billy Donaldson's story, told by Billy Donaldson. It is not a happy fairy tale, instead it is a living nightmare full of abuse, unacceptance, and betryal. But in the end Billy is able to overcome everything and find revenge and self acceptance.

Picked this up simply because of the colourful cover (a book battle critetia this month), it was a simple fluff of a read. Is is some spectacular piece of literature? Honestly no, but it is entertaining in parts. Its simple but yet a good read as it approached many topics like sexual, mental, emotional, and physical health.

Once again Cyrus Parker has managed to hit me in the feels with his poetry. As always it's an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end!
