I saw this recommended on tiktok. it would definitely be a great read for fall or Halloween that isn't scary. if you like practical magic you'll like this.
when I started this book I thought I knew where it was going but I did not. for the majority of it, I was wondering what might be the ending or the point. it's got a deeper meaning than I expected.
I liked the overall premise and theme, but it is a bit flat for me. the main character is very repetitive and doesn't really grow until the last like 50 pages.

I enjoyed this book. it has parable of the sower/handmaids tale vibes. the ending wasn't terrible but wasn't really what I wanted. I felt like there was a lot of build up and I was let down a little. but the rest of the book was very good and felt realistic to that dystopian world.

this was a really quick read. I feel like if it was a tv show it would be fun to watch. I'm not really sure how I felt about Rico. I warmed up to him in the end a bit. the other characters need a bit more time to get attached to but they all had included backstories which I liked.
one thing throughout the book was that this would appeal more to men. the way women are written about is unnecessarily sexual.
if you enjoy shows like peaky blinders you'd enjoy this.
note: publisher sent me a copy to review

this crime is very interesting, especially the systematic element. it's also a lesser known one. it is very eerie. I only gave it 3 stars because I don't love the writing. the author over elaborates in cases, is repetitive, and describes women weird.
recommend it for those who like true crime.

this was ok. very cute with a happy ending. I was glad to end the year on something easy. a bit of a slow burn with one big spicy scene. I felt the ending was a bit abrupt.

this book reminds me of circe. it is a slow start which is in line with all the tie that passes prior to the height of the character's story. but it really took time for me to care. and in the end, I mostly cared about the "villain". I was really into the darkness/luke. I liked him the moment he was introduced and was bummed at his character's journey throughout the book. though I am sure it says more about me than the plot of the book.
however I really liked the ending, I think that made up for the slow first half of the book. I do think this is a bit overrated.

I really enjoyed this book. I felt the stories were heartfelt and connected to the advice. while some of the tools and rituals she mentioned were obvious others were not. I did take away a lot from this book. she is super funny and it felt like having a chat with my bestie.

it is very cute and definitely has some watery eyed moments. if you like retellings of someone's history while they're in their old age you'd like this. reflecting on their major moments throughout their time on earth.

this wasn't really for me. I did not find the characters likeable - except maybe the sister who had a small role. it felt like a lot of it could have been cut out to maintain flow and suspense.

this book is a quick read. a collection of short stories really. the drawings are funny. the dog stories did have me laughing as they felt so relatable. I also really enjoyed her cake and hot sauce stories.
some of the stories were just meh though. and there are some poor word choices that didn't age well.
overall relatable and silly. a good light read.
