Two very quirky people flirt and try to solve a mystery/murder while running around town saying and doing quirky things.

(For the record, licking a bit of the remnants of a school cafeteria food fight off someone's FACE after he's come home is NOT QUIRKY. IT'S GROSS.)

I find it appropriate that the book cover model has the worst version of her wig for this book, because the plot and main villain were just as raggedy and off-kilter.

Anne Bishop really belly flopped the landing on this series, because I was SO into it. I just found this last book so distasteful in everything that had to do with Monty's brother. Which was most of the book. At least everything else was just as good and I still ate it all up.

I think I read this entire series in a week. I have no idea what kind of spell it put on me but damn. That was a really fun ride.

Something about the climax felt weirdly passive and not cathartic enough for me, but I still enjoyed this a lot. It just WORKS for my brain.

Urban fantasy but make it slice of life until the slowly building plot threads collide into action in the climax. Yeah, this totally worked for me.

Tried to be philosophical and thoughtful in a way that was just utterly, utterly boring. Meh.

This is a super cute and pretty straightforward romance story. What stands out for me is the ART! The character designs are cute, there are lots of fun expressions, and omg the CLOTHES!!
