I REALLY enjoyed this. I spent a majority of the time with this volume giggling out loud; there was one part that had me nearly in tears by the time the joke's punch line landed.
The premise is pretty simple: an infamous ex-Yakuza is now a house husband while his awesome wife works hard to provide for them. The jokes are simple, and each chapter feels like a short story landing the same joke but they're all done in such charming and funny ways.
I was very upset when I finished reading Volume 1 and couldn't find Volume 2 anywhere. I literally left the park I was reading at to visit two different Barnes and Noble AND my local comic shop and nobody had Volume 2 in print. Even Amazon has Volume 2 for $5 more than the actual price, for some reason?? Guess I'll read it in digital format and get the physical copy when it's available again.
I can't WAIT to keep going and I can't wait to get started on the anime too!

This was honestly quite a delight, with the worst thing about it being that title.
Punderworld re-imagines Hades and Persephone's story as one of two awkward people trying to figure out how to be with the person they kinda sorta have had a crush on for 200 years, give or take. There's something silly and relatable about this, from Hades's awkward conversation with Zeus about his crush, to Persephone's attempts at having a conversation with her mother that just end up sounding like a teenage girl yelling at her mom about how she just doesn't get it!
Throw in some well-meaning meddling from Zeus, some adventurous shenanigans, and this volume sets up a cute story.
The art is charming all the way through, Sejic does some lovely work from the characters to the scenery. I love the design of Hades and Persephone, and how even the speech bubbles are special depending on the character talking. The color work is really lovely as well.
