I think watching the TV show and being so in love with all the characters did me a disservice, for once.

Popsugar 2021 Reading Challenge #37: A book you think your best friend would like.

Well, good to know this isn't my thing, but at least I tried! I had to give 13-year-old me a chance, but I think we'll stick to having good memories of watching the cartoon and leave it at that.

I've been SO out of the Marvel comic universe over the last few years. Event after event, relaunch after relaunch, book after book happened until I didn't even recognize my favorite characters anymore. I didn't have the heart to keep up.

But, I figure, why not try to come back with a combination of my two favorite things: Cosmic Marvel, and Young Avengers.

Road to Empyre is a great jumping off point for new readers, or for old readers coming back. The art is gorgeous, both in the current time and the "flashback" art after old artists. I also enjoyed how much story and character got packed into the single "The Kree-Skrull War" issue when it was basically a catch-up issue. I want more stories about these families! I want a 6 episode series on the Warners!! (If I had to sit through the soul-aching garbage that was Runaways, then Marvel can definitely pay me back with The Warners.)

Also, I can't explain just how fast my heart fell right out of my ass seeing Teddy at the end there. I'm so damn excited to be back with him and Billy and to see where this goes.

Anyway. Happy to be back, happy to be here, and ready to dive into this event.

My husband's family got me a TEA DRAGON SOCIETY CARD GAME as a belated birthday gift. They didn't even know I read and loved it, they just knew I'd enjoy a cute card game. !!!!

Sometimes all you need is a hella cute, thoughtful, touching book to get yourself centered again.

I want my own Tea Dragon named Earl Grey now.

This is cute as hell, and if I didn't already have Volume 2 queued up to go I'd be VERY UPSET at where this one ended.

So...is this what it's like when you actually have a stable teenage life and friends and are facing big changes but don't want to regret what little time to you have left with those you love and who you may be leaving behind?

Huh.

What an absolute delight this was.
