Uncanny Avengers, Volume 3: Ragnarok Now
Rick Remender, Steve McNiven, John Cassaday, Daniel Acuña, Salvador Larroca
Artist changed and the art did not get any better, nor did the story.
Also, apparently someone turned into a shambling corpse with no identifying marks is easily recognized as the man he used to be? Yeah, okay.
Sigh.
Bye, All-New Ultimates. You had so much potential.

I had high hopes. High hopes! The teenagers in the Ultimate universe are the only thing good going for it right now and I continue to love Miles Morales, so naturally the Ultimate answer to the Young Avengers should be promising right?
Yeah, okay.
This started off nicely enough with getting the team together, but then you throw in some nonsensical plot about a gang and...some cops, and...I honestly don't remember what the actual plot was. Gang warfare! Ultimates fighting them! Cops getting in the way! Lots of explosions in issue six because apparently going Michael Bay is the only way to create excitement! (It didn't.)
Pinna's art was not the best for this series, especially after getting used to David Marquez's fantastic work on Ultimate Spider-Man (where these teens were born) and Miles Morales: USM. It's not hard to tell characters apart when they're in costume, but Pinna has this complete inability to draw any of the girls in different ways. If there were no color in this book, you wouldn't be able to tell Jess apart from Lana or Kitty or Tandy.
And then there's this:

(Shudder.)
Unfortunately I'll be dropping this book, unless there's a change in creative teams. At least I still have Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man.

Still not entirely sure how I feel about this one. It was far better than a majority of recent Marvel events, but that ending was a face palmer.
(And whatever was said to Thor had better be DAMN good to make him suddenly unworthy of lifting Mjolnir.)
RIP, Uatu. I really enjoyed your weird bald self, and still subscribe to the theory that you are alive and well in the Marvel cinematic universe as Stan Lee.

The conclusion to an epic two years in the making — and rest assured, nothing will ever be the same again!

I'm just going to share some of a twitter discussion I had with a friend as I ranted about the stupidity of this book, because I don't want to think about it anymore. (I only caught up because my friend Leshia said Banshee shows up and my love for the Cassidy family is strong and true.)
Chantaal: I knew it would all be fixed with time travel but a LOT of the character choices are just fucking WEIRD
Chantaal: And way to have two characters fall in ~true love~ off screen and contrive a way to keep their relationship in canon.
Chantaal: I'm choosing to believe Uncanny Avengers is just all an AU. It's the only way I can even deal with any of it.
Leshia: it's been going for well over a year and I don't think a single thing in it has been referenced elsewhere, it might as well be
Chantaal: It's also weird to see Remender try to work the long con the way Hickman does and try to have it come together in ONE ISSUE.
Leshia: SERIOUSLY. He tries to hard to go for these big epic stories and it just falls on its face.
And now I have to suffer through the whole AXIS event soon because of what's been going on in this book? Ugh.
