November 2018 re-read:
This is honestly one of those books/series I have such a warm, fuzzy, delightful emotional attachment to that never gets old. I love re-reading it.
April 2015 Re-read:
YEP, STILL LOVE IT.
February 2012:
When I picked this up from the library, I didn't have a real idea of what it involved. I just knew it was an interesting sounding paranormal romance novel, and it's been on my TBR list for a while.
Holy cow, I did not expect to be as enraptured by Immortal Beloved as I was in the last day.
I didn't expect it to be a complete character journey. Sure, Nastasya is an immortal and lot of what she does is learning to control and use magick, and sure, there's a bit of a romance aspect to it, but none of that compares to the journey of self-discovery Nastasya goes through. There could be no paranormal aspects about it at all and I'd still enjoy every single page.
If you were truly immortal, how would it change you? How would the weight of hundreds of years of mistakes, joy, pain and indifference change you? What would you do to change yourself for the better, and would you be strong enough to do it? The work Nastasya does to answer these questions (and many more) and to uncover the emotions she's hidden is so interesting and insightful, and while it felt at times that she went in circles with certain ways of thinking, it all felt true to what she was doing.
This was definitely a delightful surprise, and I'm totally grabbing Darkness Falls (book two which just came out last month) as soon as I possibly can.

April-May 2015 re-read: Nastasya continues to be one of my favorite characters EVER. I feel you, girl. Also wondering why I (or anyone else) had this on my Young Adult shelf, this is New Adult its least.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, [b:Immortal Beloved|7823549|Immortal Beloved (Immortal Beloved, #1)|Cate Tiernan|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1341291825s/7823549.jpg|10135086], and was anxious to have Darkness Falls live up to it -- which it totally did.
We continue with Nastasya's emotional journey as she's in immortal rehab, and while at times it felt like the first third of Darkness Falls was treading the same ground Immortal Beloved did, new ideas and revelations in Nastasya's life keep it from being the same old thing. I loved Nastasya as much as I did in the first book, and while I was so-so on Reyn at first, he skyrocketed to Book Boyfriend status in this one. His sexual tension with Nastasya is amazing, and while there are plenty of reasons either would produce for not being together, I wanted to lock them in a room and make them have adorable Nordic immortal babies.
I spent the last thirty or so pages clutching the book in anxiety on Nastasya's behalf, and I loved the ending.
Here's to waiting forever for [b:Immortal Light|8820045|Eternally Yours (Immortal Beloved, #3)|Cate Tiernan|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1353496220s/8820045.jpg|13694375].

Spoiler
Nastasya's regression is done pretty well, from the reason she finally falls back into her old life to the allure of Innocencio and the darkness that seems to surround her. Here's to waiting forever for [b:Immortal Light|8820045|Eternally Yours (Immortal Beloved, #3)|Cate Tiernan|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1353496220s/8820045.jpg|13694375].
April 2017: I absolutely could not sleep and needed some comfort last night, so I blazed through a re-read. Still one of my all time faves.
August 2015 re-read: Still one of my favorite series. It's not the BEST out there, but I have so much love for Nasty and Reyn and the whole mythology of the immortals.
First November 2012 read:
YES YES YES COME TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Spies! Best girl friends! Twisty plots and intrigue and bravery and GIRL SPIES. While I found Code Name Verity to be slow going at first, I was so delighted by the premise itself that I had to keep reading. Happily, once the setup is established and the plot really gets going, it’s thrilling and wonderful and you’re so wrapped up in Maddie and Queenie and their lives that you can’t help but love them fiercely. I know I do.
