I’ve really been enjoying reading these translated fantasy novels translated from Japanese authors. This one included

This novel has a cat who guides Natsuki through several trials (labyrinths) to save books in other worlds. Through these labyrinths we rediscover what books are supposed to mean and how that has at times gotten lost.

Beautiful book full of comfort, joy and nuggets about life.
Accompanied by beautiful illustrations

3.5. But I didn’t figure it out and I feel foolish that I hadn’t even considered the character as a suspect

It’s been a while since I’ve tore through a book like this one. I did this one on audio and I couldn’t wait to get to the parts of my day when I could turn it on.
A) it’s an incredible story that is B) amazingly narrated!!! The poring was sublime.

The thing I loved most was how Evelyn owned herself and her choices.

I picked this up because I thought it was a fairy tale retelling. It was in a way, and definitely on the dark side.
I don’t think I’ve ever read ahead in a book to determine if I wanted to continue or stop. I decided to forge on, but the story didn’t really improve

The main protagonist, Ella, was not a very likeable character and I found her to be mostly shallow and the outward thinking parts at times felt disengenous
