This might be my new favorite book of all-time. There is magic in food and found family. There is joy and love and the kindest realism here. Just read this. You need it. I promise.

I didn't expect to love this strange little book. I didn't expect to love our "weird" little protagonist. This is a rom-com between a woman and her job and I think that representation is beautiful.

Ok. The shark has been jumped a little bit. There's beef over beef. And an in-laws story that doesn't quite hit. Maybe I'm just on a high after the last volume. The highlight of the volume is an all out yakuza war, and it's beautifully strange- exactly where the strength of this series lies.

Before the Netflix series, before this series caught on, I pre-ordered the first English translation months in advance of release. I read it, loved it, and immediately forgot to order the next volume. But here we are, righting wrongs.

I usually have a difficult time with author-insert fiction. While I'm all for being self-indulgent (who could ever blame another for wanting to find escape in this crazy world), such writing usually comes at the cost of its secondary and tertiary characters. "The Love Hypothesis" certainly does not suffer from a weak supporting cast, which makes it all the better. While the romance is wonderful, LOVE, all types of love and friendship, permeate these pages, making the world easy to get lost in and the characters so incredibly easy to care about, even when the rom-com tropes are maxed out in their ridiculousness. I'm excited to have the opportunity to revisit this in a few years when I inevitably need something comfortable to fall back into.

Super cute stories here, especially #EndOfTheWorld and Ghost Pepper. I realize the conceit of this series is one book per continent, so this is appropriately the largest volume in the series. But I would love to see a sister series of the different regions on Asia. There was certainly an abundance of East Asian stories, but only a sprinkling from other regions. There are so many amazing stories and storytellers out there, I am thankful that Iron Circus Comics is out there to give these artists and writers a wider platform to share their stories.

What an ending! But was the journey worth it? Maybe. Maybe not. I didn't connect with Daisy all that much, so it's hard to keep spending time with her, but the other characters were all wonderful. It's one of those books that I'll think about time and again, but I'll be happy to pass on to another reader.

Holy shit. HOLY SHIT. This got going and didn't stop for breath. Genuinely, I don't know if I breathed the last 20 pages. The audience is along for the ride and, damn, if you're not paying attention, you might as well be lost in space. But, if you can keep focused, what a payoff.

Genuinely heartwarming and lovely, both the words and especially the pictures. But, despite being "for kids", I think is just as important for adults. I needed this. I needed this for my heart- my timid little rabbit heart that gets scared and anxious and wants to keep all my thinky thoughts thought to myself. It's a philosophical call to create and be kind. I can't thank Richard Ayoade for constantly being a force for chaotic and loving good in this world.

Damn. So good! While there were a few important points of information that were either not clear or forgotten to be introduced entirely, the book was engaging and well written. Andi is an easy character to bond with. Despite its roots being firmly planted in Jane Eyre, this feels adventurously fresh.
