I struggle with the fictional portrayal of firefighting. You see, I'm married to a firefighter. Over the years, I've become one of those people who pick apart shows when firefighters are represented. I couldn't even get past the first five minutes of Chicago Fire without yelling at the tv multiple times. I hate the dramatizing and romancing of the fire life. It couldn't be further from the truth. I'm the same way when it comes to written fiction so when I saw Ash Kickers I almost passed it by, expecting the same. I'm so glad I didn't because this book was awesome!

If you are a fan of Katie MacAlister, you owe it to yourself to read Annie Nicholas. Their Baby Dragon is a riot. Filled with plenty of laugh out loud moments, it’s hard to go more than a couple of pages without snickering at the hijinks surrounding Eoin and Angie.

Historical cosmic horror. Those are words that don't often complement each other, aren't they? Yet in this case, suitably descriptive. Somehow mashing a historical narrative with the hopelessness of cosmic horror, The Resurrectionists is a violent, often nauseating tale mostly about the evils of men with a touch of Elder gods. Extremely gripping, this is one story that takes hold and doesn't let go.

Mallory Reynolds is a wildlife photographer. Every year, she loads up her little plane and heads out to the wilds of Alaska. Living on her own with the cold beauty of nature surrounding her, she is cut off from friends and family until she makes it back home. Except this time, the unthinkable happens and she crashes her plane in the middle of the wilderness.

Why Did I Pick It?
I'm very much a mood reader and I was in the mood for a "fluffy" UF. By that, I mean, a fast read UF that didn't make me think too much. I'll also admit that I'm very much a cover judger and that cover is beautiful! Besides...werewolves!

Well, How Was it?
While Misfit Pack didn't really end on a cliffhanger, it did leave the door open. The second book in the series was every bit as fabulous as the first, maybe even more so. Amber has fulfilled the Trials and proven that she is pack alpha. That crisis is over! However, Misfit Angel is filled with plenty of twists and turns and the Pack still has a lot on their plate.

So Book Three: Was it Worth it?
YES! If anything, these get better with each book. I love the new characters and the growth of the characters we know and love.

The Happy Hour series by Kristen Hope Mazzola follows a group of girlfriends, who at first glance don’t really have all that much in common: Sawyer is a Southern Belle with a bohemian side, Harper the self-sufficient lawyer, and Caroline, the nurturing one and not surprisingly a first-grade teacher. Then there’s Annabelle, the only one of the bunch who had been married…and widowed. Annabelle lost her husband unexpectedly and has no desire to get back into the dating scene in spite of her friends urging her in that direction. When she quite literally bumps into Waylon meeting the girls for Happy Hour, dating is the last thing on her mind.

The premise of Howl is a story that you've seen and heard a hundred times. There's nothing new in being stranded and finding refuge in a lone cabin in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure you can think of at least five horror movies right off the top of your head that start out this way: middle of nowhere, no way to call for help, and a killer on the loose. You know the drill. Renee Miller hasn't reinvented the wheel, but what she has done is taken a common trope and tricked it out.

Mira Grant is one of my "must reads". I don't care whether it's viruses, zombies, or mermaids from the Mariana Trench, there's something about the way she merges science with fiction. When I saw this available on NetGalley for review, I jumped at the chance to review!
Harlowe and her best friends were the Answer Squad, a Scooby Doo teen gang if I've ever seen one. Feeling the pressure to grow up and do adult things, they go for one last ditch effort at a haunted house to stay the night and discover which warring family actually owns the place. Plenty of hijinks for the Scoobs to get into. Sounds great, right?
