Waiting within the pages of this anthology are five new stories taking Mary Shelley's story of Frankenstein and giving it a unique twist. Spanning different time periods from the 1850's with Kaseem's Way, to the present day with Love Thee Better, each tale keeps to the solemn voice of the original.
Some stories resonated more with me than others but they all managed to sustain the feeling of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The authors have all taken the mad doctor's ideology of reanimation and molded it into their own monstrous creation, terrifying yet piteous.

I actually haven't read any of the Hidden Legacy series so this was a trial by fire. There are enough characters coming and going in this novella that it actually comes with its own family tree in the front of the book. You're probably going to need it if you want to know who's who. I didn't really care to refer to it when reading. While that gave me a few more questions while reading, it didn't really detract from the plot.

I love when I read a book that makes me take a couple of days to process it before I post a review. Plague Land Reborn is definitely one of those books. It sounds like your typical viral post-apocalyptic stories. Yes, there is a virus. Yes, it decimated the population. Yes, there are survivors. That's where the similarities end. If I had to explain this book, it would be somewhere between "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", John Carpenter's "The Thing" and the Borg of Star Trek. Oh, and the Garthim of The Dark Crystal.
Intrigued? You should be.

It's easy to see where Clathrus archer would be the influence for Hunter Shea's horror The Devil's Fingers. Native to New Zealand and Australia, the original land of Nope, the fungus looks like an alien hatching or the shrimp cocktail fingers a la Beetlejuice. I can't imagine what the first to happen upon it might have thought. Well... I guess we can considering they named it The Devil's Fingers. Watch it "hatch" here.
Hunter Shea creates a new nightmare for us in the third installment of his One Size Eats All novellas. Continuing the classic us against nature battle cry sung by the previous novellas Jurassic Florida and Rattus New Yorkus, The Devil's Fingers makes for a worthy addition and adversary.

I'm not typically one to pick up a thriller. However, throw in a ghost story and I'm interested.
While You Sleep started well. Zoe, an American, is fleeing from the confines of her failing marriage. You see, the best thing to do when your marriage is on the rocks is go rent a spooky house on a remote Scottish island, especially when it's on a sea cliff and none of the locals will stay there themselves. Great idea! Let's go!
