The book starts a bit slow, but picks up towards the end.
I think some of the conversations that happen fall a bit flat, and I feel that several times a character tells a joke that makes no sense.
I love the emotional aspects of this book, the sorrow and pain of the characters is well written.

It's important to remember the victims, sometimes their stories get lost or overlooked. This books focus was on giving them voices, and I believe kolker did a good job telling their stories. Interviewing many different people from thier lives to try and give a full picture. He didn't shy away from the truth about sex work and how they are mistreated by many, giving a spotlight to the lack of empathy from police.
I thought he managed to stay neutral, not pointing fingers at anyone while still giving details from many different sides.

Full of over used character tropes. Not very well written.

Had zero expectations when I started and im very glad i took the time to read it. Well written and eye opening.

I personally like Claire's story but I think this book is a let down. I was so excited when I started this book, her story in one place not spread out over the podcast. But this is just the written version of her podcast.no new details to Claire or anyone else. Nothing added to the story to flesh it out with more detail.

I enjoyed the beginning of this book, so many possibilities. I like the details the different perspectives provided. Towards the end the book gets rushed. If the ending were more fleshed out this could've been amazing.
mysterious fast-paced

The twist at the end made up for some of the struggling I did through the middle. I did not see it coming, At All.
The book felt a bit longer than necessary due to the details and scene setting.

Quick read. Enjoying Fours perspective. Interesting but feels lacking.

Quick read. Immediately sucked into the story. More detailed than the first, flowed together better.
slow-paced

Short. A very choppy read. Bounces from place to place with no warning or description. I found it hard to keep track of where Four was.
