You can tell that Joelle was a huge fan of Wes Craven way before her shout out at the end. It shines through this book. The references the way the story flows. It had such an interesting twist to the slasher genre.
The suspense in this book was no joke. Especially with the oujia board scene, I'm not even scared of them myself but I was practically shaking as I was reading scared of what was to come.

I flew through this book in one sitting, I could not put this book down, I HAD to know what was happening. I highly highly enjoyed this book, even though this book took a few twists I usually cannot stand, I found myself going with the flow instead of getting pulled out of the story. Usually I hate when seemingly normal stories take a hard turn into paranormal with little to no build up. It happens out of left field and usually feels like the author didn't know what they actually wanted to do with the story. I Cannot say thats what happened here, while the turn into paranormal/ dark arts was unexpected it felt very solid and was backed up with an explanation of sorts. While not the most detailed of explanation, a secret society and people killing for power holds true for human nature and helped ground out the craziness of everything. There were quite a few shocking moments that left me gaping like a fish and absolutely stunned, Especially the epilogue, the change of character narration left me completely frozen, I've never NOT seen the final girl make it to the end. Well, Charity Did make it to the end in a way.... Absolutely fucking bonkers. While this book left me with so many questions I was so satisfied with how it ended slightly open so everyone can draw different final conclusions. Truly a wild well written ride.

Loved how this book flowed, it made sense and even though there were multiple perspectives it was clearly labeled who was talking (and whether it was past or present) but the sections also sounded like slightly different voices.
The sections with the physiatrist were the ones that threw me but they were supposed to! It also helped pull the story along and keep focus on the main story while all the little side stories happen. The ending had me Floored, Oh My God.

This book had me sat from the very beginning. The writing was great and it flowed very nicely, sometimes YA books are a bit choppy but this one I wouldn't have been able to tell if not for the age of the MCs.
Everything about this book was great, but my favorite was the facts we get from her capstone project can be put together so you can figure things out right along with Pip.
Very early on the pieces added up to one specific person that could've been behind the murder and it was a tad frustrating watching Pip try to cross them off because of personal relations, but understandable because you don't want to think the people close to you could do something so horrendous. The shock I got from the Final reveal at the end, I wish I could've bottled that feeling because at no point was that even a thought in my mind for what could have happened.
