Just reached a point where I realized I didn't really care or want Rooney's over-intellectualized commentary about life to have its way with me. There's wasn't much in there, I wanted to take away. 

Plus, I found it so hard to read. I kept having to reread stuff to grasp what was even happening. Beautiful World is one of my all-time favorite books so I'm not sure what happened here. Maybe, I'm just not the same person I was when I read Rooney last. 

My reading of this book was clouded by the amc tv show, which ultimately left the book boring & long winded. It’s a product of the 70s and the tv show makes a lot of changes that I appreciated when compared to the book. 

I appreciate the legacy of this book, I just struggled to get through it.
