Way too slow of a start despite the fact that someone is kidnapped on page one. I read for 30 minutes and nothing happened and it didn't seem like it was picking up. All the characters sounded the same as well and there was no discernible difference between the teenager, her mom, and any other adult.

I absolutely loved The Spiral of Life. It's a gorgeously written story in the vein of Percy Jackson, only with the Celtic pantheon instead of Greek. I'd definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a young adult series with magic, a gorgeous setting, and a cast of queer characters.
