This was weird and eerie and thrilling. I loved the storytelling and was immediately captivated. This was a great debut novel.

This was a great reimagining of Hansel and Gretel and combined old elements of the fairytale with modern details perfectly. This managed to be bright, uplifting, adventurous, and magical while also being spooky and eerie. We had well fleshed out, diverse characters that all offered something to the story. It was so easy to let myself feel captivated!

This one is walking the line between 2.5 and 3 stars. I was so excited to read this, Tessonja's books always catch my attention and I love a good Beauty and Beast retelling. This, however, wasn't that great. I didn't like the characters except for a select few (Gemma was NOT one), her encounter with Elliot was cringe, Gemma's dad sucks, Imogen is evil incarnate. I was bored for the first 55%-60% of this and the last few chapters stirred up some emotions.

This was so good at being raw and real and discussing topics like grief and infertility. It handled those subjects with care while also being a beautifully written story. It was sadder than anticipated but I enjoyed it.

This was such a unique take with the fantasy genre, something that I started to feel was becoming repetitive, but this was exceptional. I loved the historical and fae element combos and I found the Jewish folklore to be intriguing. This was lovely and captivating.

Easily 3.75 stars! First, I didn't realize all the different ways you could make a grilled cheese and this made me hungry every time I picked it up. Secondly, Lyle sucks big time. Third, I felt like the mystery was done super well and kept me on my toes. I spent most of the book believing I knew who the killer was and it ended up being someone who wasn't even really on my radar. I do wish there had been more details with the characters, some did feel a little stiff to me.

This book was part good and part bland. It had promise and I was interested in the premise, but the murder mystery didn't seem like the plot of the story at times. Some conversations felt weird and forced and the characters were a bit stiff for me. while the good parts were enjoyable, the blandness was so much that I wouldn't pick this up again. Easily 2.75-3 stars.

Honestly, I didn't enjoy this one. I didn't like the writing style, characters, and it didn't hold my interest. It just felt poorly executed.

I did like this one well enough. I will say I liked a couple of stories more than others, a couple of them didn't particularly hold my interest. Death involving food trucks is unique to me, I haven't read a cozy mystery with that premise before. Overall, this was just okay.

I liked the characters and the setting and the details. It was a fun mystery even though the killer was obvious and the ending was a bit predictable.
