Great read!

I started this book and thought it was just going to be one of those reads that I feel like I wasted my time but I at least checked another book off of my Goodreads challenge. But, as I read on, I found myself having my own reckoning. I asked myself if I had learned the lessons the characters had. I asked myself what I was hiding from. The best books do that— dig a way into your soul, even if for only a few days. I may not remember this book for the rest of my life. But, in this moment, it helped me ask myself some great questions.

Hilarious lady.... but...

Amy seems kind and hilarious. But, yet, also comes across as domineering and judge-y. Maybe she is just so transparent that we are getting a good dose of who she really is- flaws and all. And, I would never say that’s a bad thing. Like I have found with tons of memoirs lately, this one lacks a certain level of vulnerability which makes me wonder why you’re writing a book about yourself if you’re gonna leave out some of your depths. You can tell she values privacy and boundaries with strangers which is great! But.. again.. then what’s with the memoir?

I think she’s great. And this was basically an enjoyable read. Not sure I would recommend this one first off to other people though.

Great read!

I just could not put this book down. I can’t wait to read more from the author. Willowdean is the protagonist any girl needs. She may represent fat bodied girls and be a new heroine for us- but, she also represents every girl scared of new things, scared of acceptance, and scared of every damn relationship in your life (new ones, changing ones, suffocating ones...).
I also extra love this because I’m from Texas... I get it.

Movie was better

I don't often say this but the movie was so much better. In the book, there are hardly any redeeming characteristics about peter. And Lara Jean is so childish and passive. The movie made them more real. The book was TOO YA.
