When I saw that this was Children of the Corn meets Romeo and Juliet, of course I was full on board for this one!
I really liked the MC, Ash, she was relatable, felt like a real teen, and she was loyal. She kept secrets that were necessary, and her twin brother was seriously awesome!
Also, Dane was great! I would have loved to have been inside his head! The love stuff came a little too fast, but it didn’t affect my love for the story.
And! The corn and cult stuff was super cool, weird, and haunting! This story grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let go until the very end! Can’t wait to read book 2!

Sci-fi is a tough area for me because I’ve maybe loved only two of them. Cinder and Heart of Iron. This book had a bit of a Cinder vibe to it, but I didn’t fall in love with the characters like I did with The Lunar Chronicles.
There was some witty dialogue and cool world building with a fun spin to it. I just wish I’d connected with it more.

This is the second book I’ve read by Liggett and I absolutely loved it!
Grant is in a crappy position because of choices that were made even though the outcome was accidental. It’s tough to decide how a person should feel about situations like these. From a mother of the victims, I’d be livid. From an outside POV, I feel bad for both parties. But I did seriously feel sorry for Grant and I really liked him.
Now let’s get to the cave parts. Holy claustrophobia! Please remind me to never ever go to a cave without a guide! The world building and the horror stuff was awesome!
The writing and dialogue were great and I’ll read anything from this woman! My only issue was the cover was sort of an odd choice. I think maybe something with a cave would have worked better.

I really liked the dialogue in this one and it had some cute moments. My husband has rheumatoid arthritis so it was hard for me to not compare that, though!
I wish I had known about this series sooner!! I loved it so much!
There is dark and there is light, and I absolutely loved the combo of the two. Ash was easy to connect to and I seriously felt bad for Dane. He needs a hug, or two, or a hundred!
Liggett’s writing just has a way of sucking you in with great dialogue and fantastic wording! I highly recommend this original duology! My only complaint is I want an epilogue!

Wickenden knows how to write real life horrors so well. I was glued in from the very first page of this gripping story. Oh, and the writing was excellent with easy to relate to characters!
I wasn't sure what I was expecting going into this one, but what I did know is that I seriously loved the cover! And after reading, I seriously loved this book!!
I adored the writing. It was so cool and fast paced and the book length was perfect! I've been getting bogged down by too-long books so this was a breath of fresh air.
And I loved the characters! Can I not say the word love enough? I'm not sure who I was supposed to hate, but Wink, Poppy, and Midnight were all my little babies. Especially Midnight, he was adorable and needed me there to tell him to stand up for himself at times! Poppy was a bit on the crazy side and Wink had an awesome story-telling side!
Overall, this was a unique book with some awesomely dark aspects and wonderfully poetic words! Can't wait to read more by this author!

We are back in the Empire! If you thought the last book had twists and turns, there were many more here! Treyan was of course still one of my faves! There was some great world building and descriptions, too! I don’t want to get too spoilery here, but that ending!
