This got me way more emotional than I anticipated, and it was beautiful and touching, yet so sad and heartbreaking.

Well, that was one long and tedious ride, though captivating, but I've made it through. Yay!
This book was interesting in many levels. I did enjoyed the humour and the narrating style. But it definitely wasn't my favorite read of the year.

First of all, I had trouble understanding the role of every character in this book. Some of them were more relevant to the story than others. I didn't felt like I connected with one in particular, which is something I don't really enjoyed. However, the more I read, the more I cared about what happened to the characters, even though I didn't really care about them before.

I often felt unmotivated reading this book, feeling mostly lost and confused about what was happening. The timeline was a bit messy, though I feel like it was to show how chaotic war is. But somehow, I couldn't put it down. Every time I picked it up to read a chapter, I just kept going. What kept me going was curiosity. See how everything will go. It was sort of captivating.

I also liked the way Heller tackled the bureaucracy. It felt like the officers were more into battling each other than fighting the enemy their country was up against.

I could have rated it down, but that didn't feel right. Talking about it in the book club I'm in, reading other people reviews, I realized I kind of liked it. It was weird, funny, absurd at some point with all those contradictions that still made a lot of sense, sometimes tragic and very sad. I don't know, I have mixed feelings about it, and I'm really bad with wording how I felt. But yeah, I sort of liked it, but not really. Hence 3 stars.

In conclusion, I think this book wasn't for me. If I did like some aspects, it was one long ride, even if I found myself laughing a few times throughout the book. This could benefit a second read, for sure... maybe in a few years.
I'm still glad I read it.

“But I'm afraid you have it backward. It is better to live on one's feet than die on one's knees. That is the way the saying goes.”

Although I enjoyed it a lot, [b:The Queen of Nothing|26032912|The Queen of Nothing (The Folk of the Air, #3)|Holly Black|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1553624975l/26032912._SX50_.jpg|45959205] fell a little bit short, probably because my expectations were really high. It was a bit predictable and underwhelming at times ; the ending was a bit rushed in my opinions, and I didn't feel like I was as engrossed in my reading as I was with [b:The Cruel Prince|26032825|The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1)|Holly Black|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1574535986l/26032825._SY75_.jpg|45959123] or [b:The Wicked King|26032887|The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air, #2)|Holly Black|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1520620414l/26032887._SY75_.jpg|45959180].

Nonetheless, it was still very good. I loved the political aspects, the schemes, and the characters' development did not disappoint me. There are so many characters in this book that I will protect against everything. The writing was also very much to my liking. I would have loved to have some more pages, I got to the ending faster than anticipated.

I truly love the world Holly Black has created and this make me so excited for [b:How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories|53439886|How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories (The Folk of the Air, #3.5)|Holly Black|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1589827409l/53439886._SY75_.jpg|83102956]. I mean, a book from Cardan's perspective, with bits of his childhood, and moments during the trilogy seen from his point of view? I NEED IT!

Overall, I think it was a great conclusion to the series!

I remember reading A Court of Thorns and Roses about a year ago, and I thought it was okay. Not mind-blowing, but I did really liked Feyre’s character, Lucien’s too. Tamlin was not a mind-blowing, absolutely amazing love interest but that was fine by me, it didn’t bother me that much. And yes, Rhysand was there too, and yes, his scenes were always bringing that spice that was missing for me. But his character, and the hype around him didn’t live up to my expectations at that moment. I didn't see the appeal, didn't understand it. And it was a really slow book, but the whole Under the Mountain section gripped me, and it got me intrigued enough to pick up the second one.
Which I did.
Only 15 days ago.

That was a mistake.

I should have picked it up way sooner. Almost immediately. Because friends, let me tell you, this book wreck me. It’s everything.

I don’t know how, I don’t know why, but A Court of Mist and Fury was just really, really good. A fantastic sequel. A really good balance between intriguing story, amazing new characters, feelings, action, politics, schemes and plot-twists. Feyre's struggles resonated with me, so deeply, I understood Rhysand's as well. I guess that's why I loved the characters so much in this book: they're trying to overcome their pain, their suffering, they're trying to heal.
It wrecked me, and I ugly cried way too many times.

I knew Rhysand and Feyre were going to end up together somehow, that was the only spoilery thing a new going into this book. I didn’t expect all of this kind of slow burn-is type of story, and I loved it.

Feyre, truly a strong, smart, cunning, kind but also sometimes ruthless badass warrior, survivor, ilu bby
Rhysand is my smol boy and I love him.
The Court of Dreams is literally what dreams are made of and I’ll serve, protect and die saving each and every one of them. The fact that this people the world wanted to break banded together and turned out to be one of the most powerful teams of all times, literal chills.
Tamlin is so Adam from the Shatter Me series it hurts and I hate it.
I'm also super intrigued by Nesta and Elain and what will be their roles in the third installement.

I did got annoyed at some point, because it felt weird to read "mate" all over the pages, but I would be lying if I said I hated the book because of that. I did not.
It was an extremely pleasant surprise and the ending made me want to pick up A Court of Wings and Ruin immediately! My mind was like wait, wha- what is happening?! wtf just happened? no no no (but also kind of yes yes yes because if someone can bring the world down, it can only be my little survivor and warrior Feyre)

What an intriguing, dark, compelling read. Even though I’m left with many unanswered questions, I loved this book. It was really hard to read at times, the consequences of war and the cruelty of human described vividly, but it was also a page-turner, following Rin in this world that only wants to put her down, because of her social status, and afterwards because of who she is. I wanted to see how she was going to evolve, who she was going to become, and how everything that is happening was going to shape her.

What an incredible debut, the world being this wide, with a vast history and many forces playing this game, the writing being incredibly compelling, and the characters, so well thought out.

It is a very heavy and dark read, there is no doubt about that. But I would definitely recommend it.
