Genuinely a really sweet ending that I was not expecting. I said it in my review for Alpha, but I really want more Jinx and Danni in the future. 

I really do LOVE Craig Cermak's art style, especially with Matt Herm's colouring. 

A pretty solid introduction to a GREAT run. I really love Jinx and Danni and I really hope to see more of them in the future. 

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't biased when talking about this. Frankenstein is my favourite book of all time. I'm always pissed off that the Creature gets reduced to a voiceless, zombie-like being who is never allowed to grow into the complex character that he is in the original book. Instead of monster that becomes intelligent enough to hate its creator and tell Victor exactly why he is angry and what he wants, the Creature in the 1933 movie is just scared and confused, as if he were a wild animal. 

In the original novel,

the creature sees a young child slip and fall into the river. He rescues the child, but is shot by the child's father because the father assumes he is trying to hurt her. This is the point in the novel where the Creature officially turns to resenting humanity. He tries to do good even after being betrayed by the family he was watching, but in return he is punished for trying to save a child's life. Even after humanity betrayed him the first time, he tried to do something good again and was attacked for it.

In this comic (due to it being in the 1933 film),

the Creature throws a little girl into the river because she invites him to play and he does not realize it will kill her. It takes away the emotional complexity of the Creature. It takes away the meaning of him trying to do something good after his previous experience with humans. The sentiment becomes meaningless. It really pisses me off every time.

I don't care for the ending. Again, it's meaningless and dumbs down the entire point of Mary Shelley's novel. 

It's much more well paced than the Dracula run Image did, but I do still think these comics need more than 4 issues. I'd love to see them do more in the future, even Bride of Frankenstein. 

My favourite line in the original novel is "I shall be with you on your wedding night" and I always get sad when it isn't included :(

Yayyyy I actually know one of the people who worked on this so I'm so excited to finally have read it!!!

It's a fun story!!! I saw "one shot" and assumed it was entirely standalone and not connected to the "New Scaremester" run, which I haven't read yet, so I was a little lost at certain points but it's fine! I had fun!!

I mentioned in my review of the Pride comic that it seemed a little childish and I wished it was a little more mature and this issue definitely struck a good balance! There's bits that are mkre palatable for a younger audience, like

Clawdeen being insecure about her design work and fashion sense

, but the overall tone was definitely fitting for older readers too!! 

I haven't read Something is Killing the Children since there was only 3 volumes out and even then I only read the first volume, so I don't have a lot to say. 

But I do really want to pick the series back up again! And I'm glad I could start here. 

I love the way the panels change to show a flashback. The colours are great and I love the soft, painted edges of the panels. 

WAY bloodier and more graphic than I was expecting any Archie Horror to get. I've read almost every Archie Horror comic and I feel like they never get quite this brutal. 

But it was fun! 

Saw the ending coming from a mile away. But I don't think that means it's bad or a cheap twist or whatever. 

I feel like 3 issues/96 pages just is NOT enough for this. Really needs another 2 or three issues because it just goes by so fast. I don't know what's going on in the characters' heads. It feels like life altering plot points are happening every two pages. It's just overwhelming. I wish more comics would have longer runs because it's hard to breathe when you have to cram an entire storyline into under 100 pages. Hell with all the ads, it's probably closer to 75 pages.
