The first 40% of this was pretty good and was a really interesting ghost story. Then Anne Rice's instincts kick in and she starts getting weird about race. Arguably, this was there from the beginning with the whole "white southern family loves their black workers who have been working with their family for generations", but the weird fetishizing of Jasmine for a brief moment is where I start getting taken out of it. There's also the transphobia. The intersex character's introduction and how she's viewed by the narrator is rough, but it takes a turn for the worst when

she rapes the protagonist

. Then once again, in usual Anne Rice fashion, there's a 15 year old love interest, incest, Lestat getting shoehorned in, and, of course, more incest. 

A guy has sex with his evil ghost twin, which is funny to say, but much less fun to have to sit through as an Anne Rice sex scene. 

Probably would've liked it a lot better if I didn't put it down for a bit, but whatever. I don't really care enough to try relistening. 

Wormvermin's art is astounding as always, but the comic being so short makes the whole thing feel anticlimactic and underwhelming. I don't want to beg him to make longer comics because that's a lot of work and he should do whatever he wants, but I do think they'd benefit from being a tiny bit longer

Happy to be back to the original gothic drama type of books, but I really don't care about Marius. 

As always, Fox's art is visually stunning and his writing is fun. God the colours in this are beautiful and his paneling is so good. There's not much of a story which is fine for a 20 page comic, but it still remains fun and interesting
