The pack has no idea what she really is...

Highlights:
I wasn't expecting as much interesting lore and plot as I got but I really enjoyed it. Esme is a interesting lead because of how confident and charming she is and I loved her dynamics with all of the wolves. They dialogue was really quick and witty which kept the tone fun.

Lowlights:
Reed's character was unbearable. He was antagonistic to a degree that was insane. I also wish the school part of the story was fleshed out more, I had questions about a lot of the world-building. Though since this is a series I'm sure they will be answered in the future.

Horn Level: 5/5

The Good
This book stood out for me because of my own love of Chinese mythology and story tropes. Especially the rebirth/transmigration trope! I loved Mingshin. She is vengeful and full of anger but is so controlled and intelligent. She is careful with her every action and really thinks things through and I thought it was awesome. Jieh is arrogant but so whipped for Mingshin. I found his character to be smart, charming and cunning but also funny and a little awkward. The characters in this book felt realistic in that their personalities, motives, and actions always aligned which is important in a book with so many political twists and turns. I found myself really sucked into the plot of this book. Much like the chinese historical dramas I love to watch, the political games were fun to watch unfold. I also liked the fantasy/magical elements of the world and how that was integrated into the plot. This book also had great pacing! The plot was always moving forward and always interesting!

The Good
I love marriage of convenience books so I was excited to read this and was surprised by how lovely the couple was from the very start. This book was super domestic and sweet and I was obsessed! Hettie and Finn have amazing chemistry and a deep understanding for each other that I really enjoyed. I liked the the book moved fast, the marriage happens in the first third of the book. It gave enough time for some great domesticity and relationship development. The main conflict of the story was also done very well! It was angsty and sad but made sense for each of their characters. It frustrated me in the best way.

Highlights:
I hate the kidnapping stories but this one was sweet! Penny and S'bren complemented each other and were very cute. The communication was great and they both were a little scared to love but once they did they wanted to cling to it with everything they had.

The Good
I loved the tone and writing of this book. It's quick and fasted paced. Ash and Emma were amazing. The banter was witty and fun as they went back and forth. Emma was an amazing main character. She was a romantic even when she didn't want to be. Ash had a lot of trauma and protected himself using humor and self deprecation. Emma is really understanding and isn't afraid of him. I loved that their miscommunications aren't dragged out and their relationship builds at a steady pace.

Highlights:
From the meeting to the small details I loved the relationship between Molly and Jamie/Albert. I actually enjoyed the short length! I feel like some stories are dragged out but this was paced perfectly.

Lowlights:
I really didn't understand Molly's motivation to lie to her best friend. The whole "date higher" thing wasn't that serious that she needed to lie and hide a whole relationship.
