Maybe I'm not in the mood, or I'm tired of reading the line, "This isn't one of your silly books, Kat," but I just couldn't get myself through it...
Maybe I'll try again later...

Actual rating 3.5, leaning more to 4 stars
2017 update: Looked at the synopsis for this book and noticed that I read it... I remember nothing... Maybe it's time for a reread...

3.5 bordering on 4. The premise was pretty good, but the writing style wasn't my favourite...
FIVE FREAKING FANTASTIC STARS. HOLY CRAP.
IF ONLY FOR THAT END, I GIVE IT FIVE STARS. OH MY GOODNESS.
I AM SCREAMING.

(The rest was still a solid three, but that's a whole different story).
Real review to come.

Gracelings are people with eyes that are two different colours. They all have some special ability, ranging from being able to consume rocks to being an excellent fighter. Katsa is one of the Graced. Though her uncle, the king of one of the seven kingdoms, continuously repeats that she is a heartless killer, Katsa finds herself with the urge to help people. However, one day, she finds herself in the middle of a much larger predicament that she could have ever imagined. As she and Po venture to unlock the mysteries of another king, they find themselves facing something bigger than they had ever thought was possible.
This book was captivating. The concept was intriguing and new (well, I’ve never heard of anything like this before). I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Her character development was excellent, and Cashore devoted a lot of the book to creating relationships and displaying how the characters were with each other, while still being able to keep the plot on track and intact. There wasn’t anything that really distracts the reader from the plot and remembering what Katsa and Po are actually trying to achieve. There were sweet parts, violent parts, and it was just amazing. Well written, and unique, I loved it (: ! Filled with romance, action, mystery, and self fulfillment, this books captured my absolute attention. I only put it down to eat, and even then I was itching to keep reading ~
