Uhhhhhm. There's very little to this book.
There's no world building. There's no character development (there's hardly even personality traits). There's actually not even really a plot. This book feels like the beginning to a book that was just never finished.
It's so crazy insta love it's not even enjoyable. They look at each other and it's bam. I'm so in love with you.
I don't know what else to say. Some shit went down at the very end that could lead into an actual plot? So… that's positive, at least?

It's been a few days since I finished this book, and I still can't quite pinpoint where I'm at with it.
The biggest hurdle I faced reading this one was the pacing. It was just so slow, from start to finish. Honestly, the big bang at the end didn't even feel like it was shocking; it was just another turn of a page.
This book was meant to be motivated by emotion, but yet, I never felt that come through to me. It kind of felt like everyone was living on the same plane of melancholy.
Now, the premise of this book was wonderful. I am all for revenge. And poisoning. And secrets within a sketchy family. All of these were huge selling points for this book. But the pacing, paired with the very confusing “twist” at the end, really just brought it all down for me and it wasn't quite as enjoyable as I had hoped it would be going into it.

I have been so meh about the rest of this series, then this one comes along and just blows it all out of the water. What an amazing way to end this series.
I had so much fun with this one. Amara is badass, Remo is so swoony and sweet. The prison “trials” were phenomenal. The banter between the two as they moved through the cells in the prison was top-notch. I didn't find it to be quite as silly and unrealistic as some of Cat’s, and I felt it really fit for the situation they were in.
It's also always nice to revisit older characters and see them in a new light through other people's eyes. Finding a long-lost friend in the prison just was the cherry on top.
This one was hands down my favorite of the series.

I was so excited to see that this one was about Lily and Kajika. I was really hoping for some kind of high stakes adventure to find a way to save Lily's life.. but I feel like I was given more of a bucket list before I die kind of story.
The push and pull between Lily and Kajika was repetitive, and the no communication trope between the two refusing to be honest about their feelings for each other got so old. So fast.
I just needed more in this one. It felt top lackluster, especially to be Kajikas story.

Liked this one, didn't love it. Honestly, nothing will top A Tale Dark and Grimm. My daughter and I loved it so much that nothing ever quite seemed to measure up.
After careful discussion, we have agreed that we both really liked the beginning of the story. Right up until they ran away from the castle and went on their jaunt. Not including, of course, the visit with the Devil and his grandmother, which we both adored.
It was fun seeing Eddie again; my daughter loves him so much and started dancing when he returned to save the day. But, other than that, we didn't love the “war/battle” and it was pretty outlandish that these two were able to tell their own story.
All things said and done, we had a lot of fun with this series!

I won't lie. I was so excited for this book. Book 3 in the Wicked Darlings series topped all the others in the series, and I was really hoping that this one would follow suit. Unfortunately, it didn't follow through for me.
The idea of the wild hunt visiting her at night as ghosts was to die for, and for the most part, it worked. However, it felt repetitious to me, as though there wasn't enough storyline to go through, so we kept revisiting the same issues. I understand that Laurie's greif, trauma and confidence are big issues for her throughout the book, but I felt like we're constantly revisiting the same exact lines from chapter to chapter, and then “ghost” to “ghost”.
I also found it quite hard to connect with her, which is no fault of the authors, I just didn't relate to her at all. I found it to be a ridiculous notion that she couldn't see how downright cruel she was acting.
I also really dislike that it wasn't really a gradual change within herself. It was like a light switch was flipped, and, boom, she was kind and decent after being a horrid queen for so long.
Sadly, as much as I loved the premise for this novel, it just didn't work for me.

This is my favorite book in the series to date. I feel like so much more happened now that we were really in the heart of Neverra.
I still struggle with Catori. I find her super flighty and quite self-absorbed, and she's constantly doing super dumb things and keeping secrets that like… why? But if offset by my love for both Ace and Cruz, so, I think it balanced itself out.
There's so much more plotting and scheming in this one, and I was all for it. I was on my toes constantly questioning what was going on and who, what, where, why, and when. Which is what I live for. I can forgive the immature characters for some trickery and treason.

Although this wasn't really the ghost story I thought I was walking into, I did still really enjoy my time with this book.
I really liked the way the story was told through interviews with the band and people associated with them, I thought it was a neat twist on a ghost story, and while it's been done before, it's definitely not commonplace. I do feel as though it was a strength in some places and a hindrance in others. Because everything is being told back to us from the past, there's really no suspense created. There's no tension. My heart was never really invested in this story. It never sped up; it never stopped in anticipation. This story is very consistently paced and continues through everyone's points of view as time went on inside Wylding House.
I will say this. I'm not sure why this is hailed as a ghost story. There is a ghost, sure. But she shows up like… twice. And not until halfway through the book.
To me, this was more of a story about the band, with a side of ghost story. I liked the story of the band, thankfully, so I wasn't entirely let down by the lack of ghost story.

This was a super short and quick read, a nice short story of Fin and Clara. They aren't my favorite of the series, but it was a fun little adventure!
This wasn't quite for me. There were a few things that made me smile. There were a few things that I really related to. But for the most part, I just flipped through this a smiled a couple of times. There wasn't anything I really loved about it.
