I loved this book so much. The depictions of the relationships in the South in the 90s was so spot on. And the horror was just so good! Highly recommend!

I loved the concept of this book, a gender bender and queer forward take on Sherlock Holmes set in a fantasy based world. The writing was beautiful and I found myself chuckling at John Wyndham in his conservative way telling this story. I just had a hard time following all the plot lines. The story was written as if it was a serial publication and each chapter, while they were connected could stand independently. There were so many homages to giants in the fantasy world, I only got like a 1/4 of the references, so I felt a bit lost. I did really enjoy the story and found it to be a witty and imaginative.

So many good twists and turns and what an ending. Loved it!

This book as it all.
Hauntingly beautiful location. ✔️
A seemingly perfect wedding. ✔️
A cast of characters with mysterious pasts. ✔️
A murder. ✔️
I love a solid, spooky read with a twist. This book did such a beautiful job of setting up not only a fantastic location, a remote Island off the Irish coast, but a cast of characters that brought more baggage with them then a two night trip should warrant.
You are dropped right into the middle of the story, something tragic has occurred at a wedding reception, but then you are taken to the day before to be introduced to the characters in the story just as quickly. The timeline jumps forward and backwards expertly as you are left wanting more with each chapter. Which one of these people will meet their untimely end and better yet, who is has done it?
If you love a good mystery, pick this one up quickly. You will not be disappointed!

It is Groundhog Day but for Christmas! I loved this story and it was such a fun read.

A few weeks ago an amazing group of people put together a charity auction to raise money for the Democratic candidates in the GA Senate runoff election. I was lucky to win an auction and in turn was introduced to a brand new author AND help democracy. It was a win win situation.
Hijacked is the story of Annie Miller, who at a young age suffers a horrible tragedy that set her on a dark and lonely path of revenge. Nothing else matters.
As she comes close to accomplishing this goal, her plan is hijacked by Hector Rivera, who won’t, no can’t, let her throw her life away.
Can Annie survive Hector to finally get her revenge? Or the real question will Hector survive Annie with his heart in one piece.
I really enjoyed Hijacked. It was a slow burn for sure but I felt that it was so appropriate for the characters and their histories, it just added another level. Sonia did a fantastic job of building a broken but beautiful world for me to get lost in for a few days. Now I want some street tacos, cheap beer, and some poetry.
