Enjoyed how this novel mirrored black unicorn. Liked some of the characters - Lizra felt like she had hidden depths only shallowly fleshed out by Tanaquil's limited POV - and found others (Worabex) to do deux ex machina things. Liked Honj as a character but found his relationship to Tanaquil rather inexplicable

Decently strong and engaging storytelling, though some of the commentary around race and nationality and religion haven't aged well. Was also puzzled by Fogg's unquestioning acceptance that Fix was accompanying him everywhere - towards the end of the journey he didn't even bother checking with Fix before arranging for Fix's travels back to London
