My first manga, ever. I think I might be hooked! Read for Book Riot Read Harder, this was a heartwarming story of love, family, grief, guilt and acceptance.
Knowing a little of how Japan is with homosexuality I wasn’t sure what to expect, and the homophobia is real in this. But more than that this is a story of changing views. It’s political without being shoved down your throat. It was endearing and sweet, and I am looking forward to part 2!
3.5 stars with an extra half a star for the cute cookies 😂

It took far too long for me to read this. It began with a recommendation for Book Riot Read Harder Challenge, and it ended with me half listening to it while at work by audio.
Flora 717 is boring. As a main character she lacks backbone and decisiveness. The story is predictable. The twist at the end is just, well blah. It certainly wasn’t the suspense filled dystopia I wanted.
Not every dystopia is Handmaid’s Tale. Please stop comparing them as such on covers. They rarely live to the hype.
That said I learned a lot about bees.
2.5 stars rounded up.
