Short true crime book about a Napa murder in 1974. Very interesting and something I'd never heard of. Really makes one grateful for new technologies and detectives who never give up.

However, I will say and I've always heard that when a case starts going cold then the victim's family just needs to keep pressing the detectives for information, leads, and what's going on. They will be more apt to keep it open if they keep hearing from you. Just like in this case...the sister never gave up so the police didn't either.

This was creepy in a good way. I think the morality aspect was hard for me to love, but it was interesting. Definitely a unique novel with twists and turns throughout.

Fake names...marriage of convenience or arranged marriage. Let's just blame the poor champagne. Nico and Vera have such a unique story that really develops with time. I loved Vera's friends and her support system because her dad is not supportive of anything.

WOW! What a traumatic time these two and their families went through. Not just in the 48 hours but for months afterward due to public scrutiny and law enforcement just not believing them. This book truly shows how the justice system is flawed and that victims are not protected. Victims should be protected at all costs due to trauma.

I enjoyed this novel. The anxiety aspect hit close to home and makes me realize I am not alone in hating social situations. It was an entertaining read and who doesn't love a 3 legged dog!
